Abstract
Pigmented villonodular synovitis most commonly occurs in the knee joint as monoarticular proliferatibve process involving the synovial membrane, characterized by yellowish or yellowgray colored villous nodules of synovial membrane formed by
accumulation
of cholesterol and hemosiderin and numerous clefting of synovium. It has mimicked internal derangement and been misdiagnosed as malignent synovioma. Pathogenesis and optimal treatment of pigmented villonodular synovitis remain unclear.
We experienced a case of pigmented villonodular synovitis of the knee, and we report it with review of previous literatures.
